November, 2005

I've had a really good 2005 so far.

I was one of 6 winners of the City of Casey Arts Directory competition, which saw one of my paintings (Yes?) feature on the front cover of the Arts Directory.

Also, my painting 'Laughter' made it to the finals of the 'She who Inspires' Competition, and was hung amongst some fantastic works in the Walker Street Gallery in Dandenong.

Added to all of this, I decided to try my hand at Jewellery making!

If you are intersted in seeing the jewellery I've made, click here: deevaa jewellery. If you see anything you are interested in purchasing, please contact me (deevaa@deevaa.com).

January, 2005

Off to a good start with 2005.

December saw my art featured in a brand new e-zine, Lustre, as feature artist (see the feature here)

In the past 2 weeks I've sold two paintings and with the proceeds, (finally) brought myself a decent easel.

If you are in Australia and are after a fantastic easel at good price talk to Jeff at: www.easelsgalore.com.au

I've also been on a bit of a roll, painting 4 new paintings in only 2 weeks. I've added them in the 2005 area.

December 05, 2004

It's been a busy year!

I've had my work in two exhibitions this year, the first in January, 2004 at Steps Gallery in Carlton South as part of the Contemporary Art Society of Australia's 'Collectors Exhibition'.

The Second is part of an ongoing display at Cafe Kava, in Lonsdale Street, Melbourne. Two paintings have sold from Kava; Mermaid, 2004 and Can You Keep a Secret?

I have updated this site with a 2004 section that includes work completed earlier this year.

Recently I've been working on small watercolours for my new Neice, Ella, and my son TK.

New Paintings in the 2002 area, and an update on three paintings in the 2001 area. This update was more to get deevaa.com up to date and correct so that I can do a re-design of the site.

14 November, 2002

I had a flash of inspiration for my next painting, which I'll start within the next few days.I think will include brown skin, a booshy afro, gold leaf and mangos -- all thanks to an African American friend of mine who I was talking with via email.

There is also a small update in the 'about me' area.

I love feedback, so email me!

Also updated was the poetry page, with a new poem making the front cover of the blender this month.

At the start of the month I started a new job as an electronice publisher for a clearing house in Melbourne, I'm enjoying the work very much and best of all the job is 3 days a week leaving me 2 days a week to paint - Hurrah!

I'm on a real painting spree -- this weekend we brought two new 20 x 30 canvas' at the art store, I am currently working on a series of Geisha - I will post photos later in the week. I'm really happy with the series - keep an eye out for the photos.

After that, I'm limited to canvas sheet and paper (until I sell a painting), so I was thinking of doing a few small experimental paintings. I love the sensual flowers that O'Keffe and Mapplethorpe did and recently I saw a great photo of a water-lily in the latest vogue living mag, and between that and some great close up tulips painted by a friend of mine (TScottDove), I'm inspired to give flowers a go, but I'm a little scared.

My work now features on the cover of 4 published books (Have you checked out 'The Breast Man' by Andy Glasser ?).

Don't forget the gift store: deevaa's gift storeYou'll find four of my paintings ('Forget me not', 'Dive!', 'the dancer' and 'Golden Glow' on T-shirts, Boxer Shorts, Mugs, Tote Bags, and Caps.

May 2002

Wow, it's been a long time since I last updated.

In January I moved to Melbourne, Australia.

For the first six weeks I had limited art supplies with me. I worked mostly on watercolour postcards for a project I was working on with about 45 artists around the world. Each of us painted 45 postcards and posted them one to each of the other 45 artists on the project. I finished posting out my cards in February, I have scanned a small selection of the cards I posted out.

Febuary saw another front page hit at the Blender (with 'so intense' written in January, 2002).

TK (my 4yr old son) hit the cover with a series of his own heart paintings - his work can be found here.

I also started on my largest commission yet. A 24 x 20 inch acrylic on canvas work of a woodnymph. This commission was quite a challenge. The commissioner is writing a novel with the nymph as the main character, and had a very strong idea what she would look like.I'm happy to say that both she and I were very please with the finished painting. I will soon add a 'progress' page - and the finished product is already in the 2002 area.

December 2001

For those of you who keep coming back for them, the 2000 archives are finally finished!

Grab a coffee, settle in and explore, and be sure to book mark the site and come back, I'll be constantly updating.

November 2001

I have recently opened my own gift store: deevaa's gift storeYou'll find four of my paintings ('Forget me not' (below), 'Dive!', 'the dancer' and 'Golden Glow' on T-shirts, Boxer Shorts, Mugs, Tote Bags, Caps and Tree Ornaments, maybe you'll find that perfect gift for a loved one this Christmas!

'Forget me not' (above), my tribute to the September 11 tragedies, made the cover of October's edition of the Loveblender. I hit front cover of the blender again this month. This time with the poem 'after breakfast they slipped back into each others arms, and slept' - which can be found on my poetry page)

Note: In order to keep the list up to date, I'll add the names of works as I paint them, therefore there will be some works named but not linked.
